VSC#

Due to the courtesy of TU Wien, EODC has the possibility to offer resources on the Vienna Scientific Cluster (VSC)

The VSC is a high-performance computing cluster system which is used for scientific research and computational tasks that require high-performance computing resources. The current deployment is the VSC-5 - if you want to know more about the technical specs, you can visit the VSC website.

The VSC can help you advance in various use cases. Some reasons you might consider gaining access to the VSC are:

  1. High-performance computing tasks: The VSC provides high-performance computing resources, including multiple cores, large amounts of memory, and high-speed networking, that can be used to run complex computational tasks. For example, choosing VSC to perform tasks that require more computing power than what is available on your local machine would be a valid use case.

  2. Large-scale data analysis & scientific research: VSC’s large storage capacity can be used to store and analyze large datasets. A user may need access to VSC to perform large-scale data analysis tasks that require significant computing resources.

  3. Software development: VSC provides access to various software packages and tools that can be used for software development and testing.

To access the VSC, the project needs to get approved first and the users would need to have appropriate permissions and credentials. This is why we would need you to provide the following information in order for us to get started deploying your project:

  • What is it for?

    • Use Case Name:

    • Description of your project (500 words):

  • Who is it for?

    • Contact Points for your deployment:

    • Users:

      • Names - Phone Numbers - SSH public key

  • Formalities:

    • How many CPU/hours will you need:

    • What are your EO Storage requirements connected to VSC?

    • Start date of the deployment:
